About this test
Past-life quizzes usually share one flaw: they offer queens, pharaohs and famous warriors, when statistically nobody was a queen. This one contains only real and widespread trades — the ones that held old societies together without ever appearing in the textbooks.
Eight historically attested roles: scribe, navigator, herbalist, cathedral builder, cartographer, village midwife, blacksmith, travelling storyteller. Every result includes a concrete historical detail about what the trade actually involved — the length of medieval building programmes, the honestly blank areas of old maps, the oral transmission of plant knowledge.
The questions mention neither period nor costume. They ask how you react to urgency, how you learn a physical skill, how you tolerate waiting, what you do with a mistake. These are competences that haven't changed in nature in a thousand years, which is exactly why the exercise works.
How it works
Each answer points to one trade. All eight are evenly distributed, so none is the default result. The percentage breakdown often shows two close trades, which is historically apt: plenty of people really did practise two.
