About this test
Let us be straight before you start: this is a prompt for thinking, not careers guidance. It knows nothing about your background, your constraints, the job market where you live, or what you are willing to put up with for a salary. No sixteen-question quiz can do that work, and anything claiming otherwise is selling something. What this one can do is name what you reach for spontaneously when you work — and that is already useful, because plenty of people have never put it into words.
That is why the results describe job families rather than job titles. "Analyst" means nothing on its own: the same taste for numbers leads to accounting, research, quality control or logistics, and those daily lives have nothing in common. A job family, by contrast, says something stable about what you will actually do with your days, and that is the right level at which to start looking.
One last thing, and it is the most profitable advice on this page: once you have read your result, go and talk to two people already working in that family, and ask them the only question that matters. Not whether they enjoy it, to which everyone says yes, but what wears them down. The answers to that will teach you more about a job than any test will, this one included.
How it works
Every answer points at one of the eight job families. The totals are added up and the dominant family takes the result; the percentage breakdown shows your mix, which is often more revealing than the winner. Each of the eight families appears exactly eight times in the questionnaire, so none is favoured from the start.
